Aoife Nic Cormaic was born and raised in Dublin. She was first introduced to the fiddle in primary school and has been playing ever since.

She has played in many sessions in Dublin over the years and has performed internationally with musicians including Kíla, Aoife Ní Fhearraigh and Phil Callery.

In 2005 she wrote, directed and composed the music for the TG4 documentary ‘Concerto Chaitlín Maude’ which went on to win an IFTA for Best Irish Language Television Documentary and Gradam Chumarsáide an Oireachtais.

Her second television documentary for TG4, ‘Aisling Gheal Uí Riada’, an hour long tribute to the late composer Seán Ó Riada was broadcast in 2006.

She completed an MA in Music Performance in DIT in 2011.

Aoife works as a Radio producer with RTÉ Radio 1.

Chomh maith lena bheith páirteach i neart seisiúin ceoil timpeall Bhaile Átha Cliath, tá sí tar éis seinm in Éirinn agus thar lear le ceoltóirí cosúil le Kíla agus na hamhránaithe Aoife Ní Fhearraigh agus Phil Callery.

I 2005, craoladh ‘Concerto Chaitlín Maude’, clár faoin bhfile agus an amhránaí Caitlín Maude, ar TG4. Bhuaigh an clár duais IFTA an bhliain sin chomh maith le Gradam Chumarsáide an Oireachtais. B’í Aoife a stiúraigh agus a chum an ceol don chlár sin.

An bhliain dar gcionn i 2006, stiúraigh sí clár faoin gcumadóir Seán Ó Riada, ‘Aisling Gheal Uí Riada’ do TG4.

Bhain sí amach MMus i seinm ceoil ó DIT i 2011.
